Engineering the Future with Rutgers Scholars
The Rutgers Future Scholars 3rd year experience is made possible in part by the generous support of National Grid.
At National Grid, we are committed to focusing a significant portion of our community investment on building a qualified and successful engineering workforce. Through our corporate giving programs, employee volunteerism and internal leadership and development activities, we have created a comprehensive program dedicated to advancing this cause. The program is called Engineering our Future, and it has three goals: to INSPIRE, ATTRACT and DEVELOP future engineers. National Grid has already invested more than $3 million in this program to target students of all ages and backgrounds to encourage them to study science, technology, engineering and math.
For rising 10th grade Scholars, the Summer Program is designed to reinforce the Scholars confidence that the University campuses are “a home away from home,” while strongly fortifying Scholars’ academic skills in math, science, writing, literature and various creative and experiential workshops. Specifically, the Scholars will research and explore scholarship in both the arts and in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Courses will include environmental science, ecology and natural resources management, marine and coastal sciences, as well as expository and creative writing, graphic design, and the fine and performing arts.
